Gigaclear are bringing access to ultrafast fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) broadband to rural areas. Rural communities have been at a disadvantage when accessing good digital connectivity, and Gigaclear are involved in a government supported initiative to change that situation. Currently most people in Dorchester get their broadband via a copper wire, the original phone line, from one of the cabinets around the village. Gigaclear is putting in fibre-optic cable to enable most (but not all) premises in Dorchester to connect directly via fibre optic cable to the internet, which should result in much faster speeds, and should benefit both private residents, those working from home and local businesses.
What they will be offering is the opportunity to connect to their network. The existing internet connections via BT or other providers will continue to be available.

Putting new infrastructure into the village does involve some disruption, and the schedule of projected work is given below.
