Music to celebrate outstanding services @ Dorchester Abbey | Dorchester | England | United Kingdom

It will be a red-letter day on 15 December for local charity, Reducing the Risk of Domestic Abuse, when a Champions Choir from Oxfordshire and across the Thames Valley will sing in a concert at the beautiful Dorchester Abbey, to celebrate the work of Reducing the Risk and its partners. The concert will begin at 7pm.

There will be lots of audience participation, carols, secular music, and the Oxfordshire County Clarinet Quintet will be playing lively music, including a Christmas Jazz Suite.

Tickets at £12.50 for adults and £5 for children, include interval wine/soft drinks and mince pies. Tickets available from: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/event/206406 with all proceeds to Reducing the Risk.

The Charity works to improve the life chances of many Oxfordshire children who come from homes where there is abuse. It also supports Oxfordshire’s most vulnerable adults, keeping them safe and helping them to rebuild their lives.

Reducing the Risk’s Independent Domestic Violence service (IDVA) team of four work with victims at high risk and their children. Since it was established in 2008, the IDVA has worked with over 2,200 high risk victims of abuse, and supported over 3,300 children at high risk.

Helped me beyond anything I ever felt anyone could do. Above and beyond. Saved my life.”

My IDVA has been there for every step of the way and every single visit has made my confidence grow.”

These words were from former victims of domestic abuse, helped by the IDVA.

Our Outreach service has worked with 600 adult victims and 100 children.

Reducing the Risk has also trained 1,100 Oxfordshire front-line staff – Domestic Abuse Champions – from many organisations in Oxfordshire, including in schools, businesses, universities, the police and health services.

Champions are trained and work together to tackle abuse. Reducing the Risk’s training and consultancy has stretched across the Thames Valley, to Milton Keynes, Bucks, Berks, Norfolk and beyond.

The Champions approach is recognised nationally, and is award-winning.
