Dr Katherine Clarke will talk about: Pandora, poets and party-animals: Representations of Women
in the Ancient World
Dr Katherine Clarke lives in Dorchester, and is in her twentieth year as Fellow and Tutor in Ancient History at St Hilda’s College, Oxford. In that time she has published many articles and two major books with a third in proof and about to appear in the next few months! [The previous two were called Between Geography and History: Hellenistic Constructions of the Roman World and Making Time for the Past: Local History and the Polis. The new one is going to be Shaping the Geography of Empire: Man and Nature in Herodotus’ Histories.] Most of her own research is on the Greek historians (especially their geographical ideas), but she teaches mostly Roman History.
